Do something nice for someone else today.
Last week, I hosted a giveaway on my blog. I decided I wanted to spread some holiday cheer, so in order to enter the contest, readers had to leave a comment telling me something nice they did for someone else recently. Tis the season, right? I was floored at the amazing responses - people were doing everything from donating kidneys, to working extra shifts to help a coworker, to making dinner for a sick friend, to simply holding the door for someone and smiling.
The comments made me realize - no matter how big or small, no act of kindness is ever insignificant or unnoticed. So, in honor of that thought, I give you a challenge: Do something nice for someone else today, and then come back and tell me about it. If you need some inspiration, check out the amazing comments in my giveaway post (http://www.fannetasticfood.com/2010/12/01/stonyfield-oikos-greek-yogurt-giveaway/#comments).
Go ahead - what are you waiting for?
I strive to be a positive and giving person in my life and so I tend to do nice things consistently. They can range from simple saying hello to everyone when I do my daily morning walk or am walking to the T station here in Boston. (People up North don't automatically greet each other.) I donate to various non-profits and try to add one new one each year. Even though my gifts are small, they count. I give to the can and toy and book drives when I can. This year I hope to be able to give a couple of gift certificates for teenagers to the New England Home for Little Wanderers because teens are often overlooked during holiday giving.
Thanks for reminding us that giving is an action that we should do immediately.
