I'm a 76-year-old guy who has been running for 39 years, and I've had only one injury due to not enough rest after my runs. I was very conservative in planning my runs and thought I had enough rest, but my body needed more. One of the problems with growing old, I guess. My running exploits are documented in my blog, http://oldmanrunning.org/
I ran in MA and NH for 17 years. I'm now living in Utah.

Have a happy holiday season!
Reduce the stress of the holidays by serving others.
I heard a woman speak about service, and she said she has a "secret Santa". Someone is leaving a gift on her doorstep each morning. The gift is a figure from a Nativity scene. The last gift will be on her doorstep on Christmas morning, and she will then have a complete Nativity scene. She appreciates the kindness of the unknown person and looks forward to the next morning's gift.
My wife teaches a Sunday School class for 8-year old children. One of the boys in her class brought her a plate of home-made Cinnamon rolls. We appreciated his thoughtfulness in bringing that gift, and we're glad his parents are teaching him at a young age to think of others.
As you think of things you can do to serve others, look at it from their viewpoint and do acts of service that will be special to them. My wife loves to decorate our house and to have family and friends come to dinner for good food and good conversation. People appreciate being invited into our home, and we appreciate having them visit us.
I myself have volunteered in various programs over the years. There is nothing like a smile from someone who is under the most dire circumstances or have lost all hope in their life because you have helped them in some small way. The feeling you get is better than any material gift you can ever receive! I agree, that 'feel good' endorphine rush can help ward off stress. The good news is there are volunteer opportunies year round to keep that feeling going and bring balance into your life.
