I'm a 76-year-old guy who has been running for 39 years, and I've had only one injury due to not enough rest after my runs. I was very conservative in planning my runs and thought I had enough rest, but my body needed more. One of the problems with growing old, I guess. My running exploits are documented in my blog, http://oldmanrunning.org/
I ran in MA and NH for 17 years. I'm now living in Utah.

Have family, will travel
One of the advantages of being active and healthy is that one can travel as the occasion arises. My wife and I just returned from a 10-day 2,000 mile trip to St. George, Utah, Zion National Park, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. My son attended a conference in Vegas, and we tagged along to help his wife with their two kids, and to sight-see a bit. We left our son in Vegas and drove to Phoenix to visit another son. Our return home from Phoenix was an 11-hour 900+ mile drive.
I was raised in a small town about 50 miles from St. George. At that time, St. George was a smaller town with a Mormon temple, a small Jr. college, and 3,000 people. Today, the school is a four-year state college, and the city has 30,000 people. It seems a lot of people have discovered the temperate climate in St. George in the Winter. St. George is a mecca in the desert of Southern Utah. I was raised in the desert and love the desert. The desert is quite different from New England, and both areas have its own personality.
The video accompanying this post gives a brief glimpse of the area around St. George. My next two videos will be of the two hikes we took in Zion. Then, we'll be off to Vegas and a look at the strip.
