Really not so different from what adults need when you think about it- decreased stimulation, noise, lights, fluids, food, etc. before going to bed. Cueing in whoever you are staying with around the "travel" bedtime routine and enlisting their assistance can be helpful. Everyone stands to gain when the kids are rested!
