I tried yoga! And, I liked it.
So, I know yoga isn't a new or revolutionary idea here, but I had never done it before until last week.
I'm not opposed to yoga or anything, I admit I just never thought it was for me as I don't really have the patience or the attention span for deep, introspective meditation-y things.
I guess I'm one of those people who was unsure if it qualified as "real" exercise. I know, I know...But, guess what? It is exercise (yes, I am from the Department of Slow Learning, why do you ask?).
I was a little concerned because I have a couple of knee issues, but it wasn't a problem, at all. It was a very basic, beginner class, and I liked it!
It was nothing fancy, not power yoga or anything called "blast" or "boot camp". Imagine my surprise when I figured out it was a good way to start the day, and I felt great!
I'm not sure I'll be able to get to an outside class on a regular basis at this point in my life, but I'm looking for a good video, and I'm going to do it at home since I definitely need to exercise more, and it may even be something we can do together as a family.
Or, at least some of us, since I'm not sure my husband would do it, but you never know!
I thought the same thing - when I had tried yoga early on I thought it was too slow. I avoided classes that had meditation at the end because I tended to fall asleep (yes. and I snored. no joke!).
Now I do an active yoga twice a week at home - using videos available through Comcast. If you have OnDemand, check out Exercise TV. They cycle through different options once a month, but usually have a good selection. Good luck, and let me know if you find a good DVD!
