Inspiring ways to be well.

Hello! My name is Brittany, and I am the writer behind the :Deliciously Healthy Blog. Since Jan-2010, I have lost 40lbs! I started my weight loss journey, because I have a number of health issues, and I decided that I needed to take my health into my own hands. I was diagnosed with Lupus when I was 15, and then diagnosed with RA, when I was 18. A couple years later I was diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome, and low thyroid. That's 4 diagnoses in a 4yr period, if you lost count. I had also gained 76 pounds, in those 4 years. Being 76lbs over weight is unhealthy for anyone, but it was especially unhealthy for me, and my health issues. But now, after having lost 40 pounds, I'm a new, slimmer, and healthier me! This journey of mine is more than me simply wanting to wear skinny jeans. It has been a quest to becoming :Deliciously Healthy, so ALL of my dreams can come true! I'm almost half way there! With each new day, I get closer and closer to my goal of 120lbs, and becoming :Deliciously Healthy

I was finally successful at losing weight, when I realized that this isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle. Before, I just thought that was a cliche catch phrase. As it turns out, it's the key to weight loss, and weight maintenance. I'm not on some crazy diet, where I have sworn off everything delicious for two weeks, in an effort to lose 10 pounds. This is my new HEALTHY LIFE. And therefore, I still have to be able to enjoy all my favorite yummy treats. The difference is now, I exercise moderation. Before, I would eat 4 Reece's peanut butter cups. Now, I just have one. And it does the trick. You can still enjoy all your favorite treats, while losing weight. Everything in moderation.

I think we have all been there before the lightbulb went off. I'm the first to admit lifestyle change is hard at first but with small progressive changes you can make a lifelong health commitment. Examples of when my lighbulb wattage increased; I too used to eat my portion of chocolate "anything" then realized having a small taste was more satifying then gorging on chocolate and feeling like crap afterwards. I used to drive around and around in a parking lot to get that space closest to the store then realized how stupid it was and a waste of time & energy getting aggravated. So now I actually park in a spot where I'm forced to walk and feel good getting a few extra breaths of fresh air and a few extra steps in.
Little changes like this really do work and stick!
