My children love doing yoga with me- either at home or at school. I am lucky that way, because I am their teacher at school, ha ha ha. How many parents can say that?!

Why do they love it?

They love doing the same silly poses every single week.

They love all the silly stories we tell when we do certain poses- like boat pose.

They love the structure of the same sequence every single week.

They love playing Yoga Pretzels with the flash cards.

They love doing partner yoga with me or their friends.

It's something about connecting with them in a bodily way that also engages their minds that keep them interested.

If you're a parent looking for ways to spend time with your kids', I highly recommend doing yoga with them. There are some really great products on the market today - Leah Kalish has some great DVD's and books for parents and teachers to start a home practice with your kids. And, it's like once you get started and do the poses with them, your children will ask for it regularly. Mine do.

And, of course, all good yoga classes teach handstands and they love those the best!

What are your best ways to stay active with your kids?
